No, I will (probably) not be playing Diablo IV, either

We're now two weeks past the launch of Diablo Immortal (D:I). The white hot outrage which was sparked by that game's monetization is starting to burn itself out; meanwhile, general sentiment about D:I itself, and about the Diablo franchise as a whole, has begun reverting to the mean.

That mean average level of sentiment seems a lot less positive towards the Diablo franchise as a whole than I expected, though, and while D:I has made a pile of cash in its first two weeks, that pile is also smaller than I thought it might be.

What in the Burning Hells is happening?

Aaaaannnnnd now it's over

Diablo: Immortal, Blizzard's egregiously manipulative and exploitative pay-to-win-fest, launched only days ago, and the outraged reaction has been swift and and loud. Blizzard, though, has mostly kept quiet about the game's negative press and near-zero (or, for PC, actually zero) user score, doing nothing more than send out the game's director, Wyatt Cheng, so disseminate some extremely disingenuous double-speak.

It was also as if they were just hunkering down, waiting for the storm of outrage to blow itself out, and for the posts by the game's whales to start bubbling up: tales of the best places to farm XP, of the best builds for each class, of how to beat a tough early boss, all with nary a mention of the cash shop in sight.

So, how well is that working, you ask?

Not quite as expected, but...

I said yesterday that I was expecting Diablo Immortal's user score to keep dropping and hit zero. That didn't happen; the iOS version's user score is still 0.5, buoyed by the one NetEase shill that gave it a 10/10 and urged everyone to start spending.

The PC, version, it another matter:

Oh, yeah. There's my zero. Along with a 62 Metascore... well below average.

I don't have anything more to add, really, except... Bwahahahahahahahahaha!
